Our research aims to produce more economically, environmentally and socially sustainable cities for current and future generations.
The Manchester Urban Institute's research is structured around four signature research themes:
- Informalities and Vulnerabilities
- Smart Cities and Transitions
- Spatial Inequalities and Poverty
- Urban Governance and Politics
Each theme is a collaborative effort by scholars from multiple research groups and from across the University.
The Manchester Urban Institute is home to a number of trans-disciplinary research agendas and themes.
Our five research groups have gained significant research funding in the last three years.
We're committed to making a difference to the social and economic well-being of disadvantaged groups.
