Just Greater Manchester research

Our research is addressing the causes and consequences of inequalities in our city region of Greater Manchester. We are focusing initially on education, health, work, space/place and people and groups.

Economic and social inequality is one of the major issues facing advanced and emerging economies. Our own city region, Greater Manchester, is the biggest city economy outside London, but at the same time is challenged by deep structural inequalities in opportunities and outcomes. We want to ensure that our research with global significance on inequalities has a positive impact in Greater Manchester, and then work in partnership locally on outstanding research programmes that have regional, national and international reach.

We are seeking to engage with individuals, communities, policy makers and businesses to exchange knowledge and contribute to better understanding about the causes and consequences of inequalities across Greater Manchester.
