James Scorer: Comics and the Latin American City

28 April 2017

James Scorer's international network will test the hypothesis that comics, which are still understudied in academia, help shape identities in the kaleidoscopic world of urban Latin America by appealing to multiple audiences via print media, public art and online communities.

The Leverhulme funding will enable James and colleagues to draw together participants with diverse methodological and regional expertise, this transnational, multi-lingual network will analyse the representation of cities in comics; map site-specific uses of comics in physical urban landscapes; and determine their value as cultural capital in festivals and on websites.

Further details will be available in due course.
