Just a selection of the talks, workshops, conference presentations etc MUI colleagues have been busy with since the last round-up.

Mon 26 - Fri 30

Erik Swyngedouw was visiting Professor at the University of Kassel (Germany) and presented a series of lectures and seminars on post-politics, The Anthropocene, and on water/cities. More details can be found here: http://www.uni-kassel.de/fb11agrar/aktuelles.html

Wed 28

Jonny Darling gave a lecture at the Royal Geographical Society on changing patterns of migration and society. This was part of the RGS Schools event series.

Fri 30

Jonny Darling was a panel member and gave a talk on 'Dispersal and the politics of discomfort' at an event on 'Migrant Digitalities. Data Circulation, Destitution and the Politics of Dispersal' at Swansea University.

3-4 July

Angela Connelly attended the Territories Of Faith: Religion, Urban Planning and Demographic Change in Post-War Europe 1945 – 1975, International Workshop at KU Leuven, Belgium. Angela's workshop was titled 'Planning for Faith in Wythenshawe, Manchester (UK).'

3-5 July

Erik Swyngedouw participated at Making space for socio-spatial and socio-ecological justice in research and action strategies conference in Lesvos, Greece. Erik discussed 'Theoretical Approaches to Landed Commons'.

11 July

Martin Dodge quoted in Guardian article titled: 'Never drink in a flat-roofed pub: how the old joke became a reality'.

11-14 July

Angela Connelly attended The Association of European Schools of Planning (AESOP), Annual Conference in Lisbon to present a paper: Connelly, A., Carter, J., Hincks, C., Handley, J., Taheri Moosavi, S. Translating new conceptions of climate change risk into urban climate change risk assessments and adaptation responses. 

12 July

James Evans gave a talk at the Glasgow Future Cities Demonstrator event, co-hosted by Manchester Informatics and MUI. 

Ruth Lupton and Ceri Hughes presented a paper on 'Reformulation of social policy in 'inclusive growth', versions & implication' at the Social Policy Association annual conference in Durham.

13 July

Jonny Darling was intereviewed on BBC Radio Coventry and Warwickshire on migration and identity.
