Multilingual Manchester update

The Multilingual Manchester research unit hosted two public events in 2017.

In February, they celebrated International Mother Language Day at the City Library with senior City Council officials and community representatives. In June they hosted translators and interpreters at an event on Encounters with Language as part of Refugee Week (both events were chaired by Dr Rebecca Tipton).

The next public Multilingual Manchester event is on 7 September, when Dr Maria Schiller (Max Planck Institute) who will be giving a lecture title ‘A post-multicultural era? Local diversity policies and modern public officials’.
